High Sheriff's Initiative Fund

The High Sheriff's Initiative encourages the development of projects which work to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and bring people closer to their communities to create a more cohesive society.
This year we will welcome and prioritise applications supporting projects across Northamptonshire working to support children and young people. This year will also have a focus on supporting grassroots organisations, with an annual income of £100,000 or less.
Groups can apply for a grant of up to £3,000 for their project.
You must apply under one of the following themes:
Preventative: Projects working with vulnerable families and communities to reduce childhood adversity
Early intervention: Projects working with at risk or excluded children and young people
Intervention: Projects working with young people at risk of offending or re-offending
The Programme will close to Expressions of Interest at 5pm on Monday 22nd June. Please complete an expression of interest form, which you can access here.
If your expression of interest is shortlisted, your organisation will be asked to be involved in a project visit in July, the date to be confirmed.

Is my group eligible?

Your group must be a small, locally managed charity, constituted community group, social enterprise such as a Community Interest Company (CIC), or a company limited by guarantee with charitable aims. Please note that as a general exclusion we do not fund social enterprises that have a person with significant control (PSC).

You must be based in Northamptonshire

Have an annual income of £100,000 or less

You must have a set of written rules or constitution that your group adheres to, that contains a dissolution clause specific to Northamptonshire. We can help advise you on how to do this especially if you are a new group.

You must have safeguarding policies in place if relevant to your work and all groups must have an equalities policy in place.

African & Caribbean Elders Service Legacy Fund
African & Caribbean Elders Service (ACES) was established in 1992 to provide the preventative components of support services to its users and carers, which included good quality day care for older people, with a focus on those from the Black and Global Majority communities living in and around Northamptonshire.
Northamptonshire Community Foundation are now supporting the legacy of the charity through the establishment of this funding programme, which will focus on awarding grant funding to Black and Global Majority-led organisations supporting older people in their communities.
Small Green Arts Fund
The Small Green Arts Fund wishes to support a broad range of arts, culture and craft activity across the county, responding to and raising awareness of the climate crisis and encouraging local communities to look at ways of adapting and responding to climate change.
Constance Travis Endowment Fund for Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire Community Foundation is delighted to launch the Constance Travis Endowment Fund for Northamptonshire to help build a sustainable and safe future for Northamptonshire communities.
Randal Charitable Foundation Fund
The Randal Charitable Foundation was founded by Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL and Moni Kotecha with a clear unwavering vision, which is to save, and significantly improve, the lives of 1 million people, in the UK and around the world.
The Randal Charitable Foundation is partnering with Northamptonshire Community Foundation to award small grants to grass-roots organisations for projects based in Northamptonshire.
Cecil Pettit Legacy Fund
Cecil Pettit was one of the founding members of Ability Northants, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of people living with disabilities.
Following his passing in 2000, a legacy fund was established to carry on Cecil Pettit's good work. This fund is managed and facilitated by Northamptonshire Community Foundation, with the aim to fund projects supporting people living with disabilities.
Volunteering for Health - Test, Learn and Innovate Programme
The Volunteering for Health: Test, Learn and Innovate Programme supports Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations—particularly smaller charities and underrepresented groups—to pilot innovative, sustainable volunteering models that improve health outcomes.

New Albion Community Wind Farm Fund
The New Albion Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has been established on behalf of New Albion Wind Limited to provide grants to projects which benefit residents in the parishes of Rushton and Pipewell.
The fund will support a range of charitable, educational, environmental and general community amenity projects to benefit residents in the local community around the wind farm site.
Burton Wold Community Wind Farm Fund
The Burton Wold Community Wind Farm Fund has been established on behalf of Laing Construction to provide grants to projects which benefit residents in the parishes of Burton Latimer and Cranford around the wind farm site.
Winwick Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund
The Winwick Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has been established on behalf of Cubico Sustainable Investments to provide grants to projects which benefit residents in the parishes of Winwick, Cold Ashby, West Haddon and Guilsborough.
Yelvertoft Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund
The Yelvertoft Wind farm Community Benefit Fund has been established to provide grants to projects which benefit residents in the parishes of Clay Coton, Crick, Lilbourne or Yelvertoft.
SWEF Enterprise Fund
The SWEF Enterprise Fund looks to offer support of up to £500 for individuals living in Northamptonshire aged between 18-30 who are launching a new business or up to £2,000 for those running a new business that is within its first two years of trading.
John Chard-Young Legacy Fund
The John Chard-Young Legacy Fund is a bursary scheme providing Adrenaline Alley sporting and Active In Motion (A.I.M) Health & Wellness Centre sessions to help improve the overall wellbeing of those in need. John Chard-Young was the co-founder and inspiration behind Adrenaline Alley, one of Europe’s largest indoor BMX and Skateboard Parks and safe space for those interested in urban sports.
Harry's Fund
Harry’s Fund is a bursary scheme to make individual awards to young people with neurodiverse conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or ADHD to support their education and/or health and wellbeing.
Northamptonshire High Sheriff Care Leaver and Estranged Student Fund
The High Sheriff Care Leaver and Estranged Student Fund makes individual awards to support employability for Care Leavers and Estranged Students graduating from the University of Northampton, to have a meaningful impact on an individual’s future education, employment, aspirations and quality of life.
Anglian Water Thriving Communities
Anglian Water’s Thriving Communities Fund offers grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 to support projects across the entire Anglian Water region that are focused on the water environment whilst also delivering social benefits.
