Northamptonshire High Sheriff raises £20,540 for local communities

More than £20,540 has been raised for Northamptonshire communities following two successful fundraising events hosted by the county's High Sheriff, Roger Butler.
The funds were raised through the High Sheriff's Garden Party and the High Sheriff's Jazz Afternoon and High Tea, together with additional donations from supporters. Of the total raised, £19,660 will support the Northamptonshire High Sheriff's Initiative Fund and £880 has been donated to Northamptonshire Community Foundation's General Fund.
Northamptonshire Community Foundation has managed the High Sheriff's Initiative Fund on behalf of the county's High Sheriff since the fund was established almost 20 years ago. The fund supports charities and community organisations working to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, support vulnerable people and strengthen local communities.
Throughout his shrieval year, Roger Butler has championed the work of Northamptonshire's voluntary and community sector, visiting organisations across the county and helping raise awareness of the often unseen work carried out by local volunteers. He has made a particular effort to highlight grassroots groups making a difference in their communities.
Roger Butler, High Sheriff of Northamptonshire, said: "Over the past few months I have had the privilege of meeting some truly remarkable community groups and volunteers who give their time, energy and skills to help others. Their dedication and commitment are inspiring.
"These events were an opportunity to celebrate that community spirit while raising funds that will help local organisations continue their important work. I am extremely grateful to everyone who attended, donated and supported the events. Together we have raised a significant amount that will help make a positive difference across Northamptonshire."
Rachel McGrath, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Northamptonshire High Sheriff Roger Butler for supporting Northamptonshire Community Foundation and the High Sheriff's Initiative Fund during his shrievalty year.
"The Northamptonshire High Sheriff's Initiative Fund has supported local charities and volunteer-led organisations for 20 years, helping fund projects that reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, provide positive opportunities for young people and strengthen communities across Northamptonshire.
"This fantastic fundraising total will help us continue to support the grassroots organisations that are often the first to respond to local need. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who attended the events and contributed so generously."
The two events brought together local businesses, charities, volunteers, community leaders and supporters from across Northamptonshire, recognising the generosity, commitment and community spirit that help local communities thrive.
