Local heroes celebrated at Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Rose of Northamptonshire Awards

Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Rose of Northamptonshire Awards 2026 took place on Friday at Wicksteed Park, bringing together communities from across the county to celebrate exceptional individuals who go above and beyond for others.

Held during Volunteers’ Week and as part of the Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the event recognised 49 inspiring winners from across North and West Northamptonshire. Delivered in partnership with North and West Northamptonshire Councils and Wicksteed Park, and supported by the Lord-Lieutenant’s Office, the ceremony was attended by representatives from local councils, Mayors, Chairs, Deputy Lieutenants, local dignitaries, and key figures from across the voluntary and community sector.

The Rose of Northamptonshire Awards honour individuals and groups whose dedication, compassion and commitment make a lasting difference in their communities. This year’s awards were presented by the Lord-Lieutenant’s representative, Oliver Wicksteed DL, and the High Sheriff of Northamptonshire, Roger Butler. The winners reflect the breadth and strength of volunteering across the county - from leading local initiatives and fundraising efforts to youth mentoring, and providing practical, day-to-day support for people experiencing isolation, hardship and vulnerability.

Frank Mba

Among those recognised was 14-year-old Jacob Waldon, whose compassion and commitment have seen him support people experiencing homelessness every week, while also raising funds through personal fundraising challenges. Christopher Smith was recognised for turning personal loss into powerful advocacy for baby loss, raising thousands of pounds to improve support for families while encouraging open and important conversations. Frank Mba was recognised for his volunteer work with the United African Association, supporting vulnerable individuals both practically and emotionally.

Elona Latifi

Elona Latifi was celebrated for her work supporting the Albanian community, providing practical help and creating safe spaces where people feel understood and connected. The Stanwick 10K Races Team were recognised for their long-standing volunteer-led event, which has brought communities together for over two decades while raising vital funds for local causes. Rocky Coles was honoured for transforming St Giles Churchyard into a greener, more welcoming space for both people and wildlife. The awards also highlighted lifelong dedication, including Maggie Clare, who in her 80s continues to volunteer with warmth and energy at her local community café, inspiring all generations.

Nalini Patel

Rachel McGrath, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: “As we celebrate 25 years of supporting communities across Northamptonshire, these awards are a powerful reminder of the extraordinary people at the heart of our county. Each and every winner has shown outstanding dedication, kindness and resilience, often quietly going above and beyond without recognition.

It was a privilege to bring everyone together at Wicksteed Park to celebrate their achievements. The Rose of Northamptonshire Awards shine a light on the individuals and groups who make our communities stronger, more connected and more compassionate.”

The event highlighted the vital role volunteers play in strengthening communities and supporting those most in need, with many winners dedicating years - and in some cases decades - of service to others.
