The Big Help Out returns this weekend: get involved in Northamptonshire

The Big Help Out is back this weekend (Friday 5th – Monday 8th June), bringing together communities across the country to celebrate and support volunteering — and here in Northamptonshire, there are some fantastic opportunities to get involved.
At Northamptonshire Community Foundation, we’re proud to once again support The Big Help Out alongside our charity partners and the Lord-Lieutenant’s Office. It’s a chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible contribution volunteers make across our county, while encouraging even more people to give their time, build new skills, and connect with their communities.
Local opportunities to get involved
We’ve already heard from some brilliant local organisations who are opening their doors to volunteers this weekend:
-
The Happy Hood invites you to come together for food, fun and action on Sunday 7th June. Join them at 11am at Umbrella Fair on the Racecourse for a community litter pick and then connect with a picnic lunch. They'll find a sunny spot on the grass at the Racecourse to gather and have a picnic lunch. Bring your own food and some to share if you're able to.
-
Moulton Community CIO is hosting a Big Lunch on Monday 8th June from 12:30pm - 2pm with sandwiches, finger buffet, cakes and refreshments. Booking required.
You’ll find full details about how to take part on The Big Do website — whether you can spare an hour or a whole day, every contribution counts.

Why get involved?
The Big Help Out is a great opportunity to try something new, meet like-minded people, and make a tangible difference close to home. Whether you’re an experienced volunteer or taking your first step, there’s something for everyone.
In previous years, we’ve seen inspiring examples of community spirit across Northamptonshire - from environmental clean-ups to community events and support services - and we’re excited to see that energy return again this year.
Celebrating volunteers across Northamptonshire
As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’ll also be celebrating the outstanding contributions of volunteers at the Rose of Northamptonshire Awards at Wicksteed Park. This special event marks our 25th anniversary and recognises the individuals and groups who go above and beyond to make a difference in our communities.
