Family Food Aid Appeal Case Study: Shine Development Concept CIC

Shine Development Concept CIC is a Christian Not-for-profit Social Enterprise organisation that provide help to people going through difficult times in Northampton, especially in situations where children and young people are involved.

They currently offer a drop-in foodbank on the Kettering Road every Monday and Thursday as well as a Food Bank a daily door stop food and toiletry parcel delivery for clients unable to attend the Drop-In sessions. Clients and professionals are now also able to book a food parcel on their website which they can then collect and they hold a drop-in Food Bank at Rectory Farm Community Centre during the School Holidays for families of children in receipt of free school meals.

They have recently received funding through the Family Food Aid Fund to support families from BAME communities across Northampton. They will use the grant to purchase Afro-Caribbean food items for non-EU immigrant families they support who have no recourse to public funds. They will also use the funds to complement the tinned food items donated by the community and FAAWN (Food Aid Alliance of West Northamptonshire) by purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables to create healthy balanced food parcels.
