Richard Dimbleby

Richard was born and grew up in Rothwell in Northamptonshire and went on to study at King's College London.  He enjoyed a  career in Further Education Colleges in Hertfordshire, Surrey, Somerset and Dorset where he was the Principal and CEO of The  Bournemouth and Poole College and a Governor at the Arts University Bournemouth and at Weymouth College.  He is a Deputy Lieutenant of Dorset.

Richard moved to  Kingsthorpe Village in 2017 to be nearer  his family and young grandchildren.  He is enjoying walking and rediscovering Northamptonshire.  Richard is now a Governor at Kingsthorpe Village Primary School and at The Bedford College Group which includes  Tresham College.

In Dorset he was a  Director of the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry,  and a  founding Trustee of the Dorset Community Foundation where he  continued as a Trustee for 12 years.  From first-hand experience he knows  that even comparatively small grants to local groups and individuals can make a significant difference whether it is for community centres, drug rehabilitation, food banks, sports clubs, student bursaries,  winter fuel grants or many other diverse community needs.  Both in education and in his other activities Richard has a passionate commitment to community development and to enabling individuals to make the most of their opportunities. Richard became a Trustee of the NCF in 2021.
