Towcester parkrun have been awarded £2,000 by Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the Constance Travis Endowment Fund.
The parkrun will provide the people of Towcester a nd surrounding areas with the opportunity to take part in a free non-competitive 5K running event which will take place every Saturday at 9:00am.
The grant will go towards the cost of the weekly running event as well as funding a defibrillator and equipment needed for each run.
Brian Keers, project coordinator of Towcester parkrun said “We’re is incredibly grateful to Northamptonshire Community Foundation for the grant as the money will make establishing the event possible.
Parkruns are weekly 5km timed runs that are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. Inclusivity and taking part is the central ethos; volunteers are applauded as much as the runners. It galvanises communities and can transform individual’s lives.
The grant will be put towards paying for all the equipment that is needed to start the parkrun, everything from timing equipment to hi viz jackets for the volunteers.”
