Golden Years have been awarded £2,720 from Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the Avon Fund for Women and Girls.
Golden Years is a community group established with the aim of offering the older generation opportunities to engage in more social and physical activities to improve their health and overall wellbeing and to decrease social isolation.
However, the group also wants to reach out to all generations as they become increasingly aware of the negative impact loneliness has across all age groups.
The funding will support a twice monthly Drop In Coffee Shop session aimed at single mother’s across all age groups.
Manager Megan Neilan said: “The project is set to benefit various groups of people/generations across the community.” She added: “We will be able to offer more regular and consistent support in a laid back and relaxed atmosphere that can contribute towards helping to support individuals feel less on their own or isolated.”
