Northamptonshire Carers have been awarded £4,726 from Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the #iwill Fund.
Northamptonshire Carers is an independent, local registered charity based in Wellingborough. The award-winning group offers assessment and support services to carers of all ages, aiming to empower and enable them whilst promoting their worth to society at large.
Funding from the Foundation will support the organisation’s Young Carer Ambassador programme; training ambassadors and developing their skills with the involvement of a number of schools across the county.
Speaking of the support of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, Young Carer Service Manager Joanna Johnson said: “In particular, funding will support our Young Carers service in engaging and supporting more schools across the county. We aim to achieve this by training 30 young carer ambassadors. Individually selected schools will help us raise awareness leading to better recognition, identification and support for young carers in education. We will be utilising national resources and support from Young Carers in Schools produced by Carers Trust and the Children’s Society in making this as meaningful and sustainable as possible. We are really excited by this project and the possibilities it could bring.”
