Food for Thought Daventry has received a total of £7,000 from Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund
Food for Thought Daventry is a small, local charity aiming to reduce holiday hunger across the town. They provide a hot meal to children and their families five days a week during the school holidays free of charge, with members being referred from schools, welfare services and doctors.
Due to the public health crisis, the organisation altered their approach slightly and began offering a food delivery service to vulnerable families in need. They recently received several grant awards through our Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to support this new service.
David Kolb, of Food for Thought Daventry, said: “We operate from home and get referrals from local schools and welfare services. When the schools closed and lockdown occurred, we were contacted by local schools asking for help with their vulnerable families.”
