The Core at Corby Cube has been awarded £5,000 from Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the #iwill Fund.
The Core at Corby Cube aims to be a civic theatre in the most relevant, engaging and entertaining way possible. Established in 2010, the Core consists of three spaces. The Theatre seats 445 people, offering professional visiting companies, local amateur groups, schools and community organisations the chance to take to the stage. The Lab offers a studio space for smaller-scale shows and family activities to thrive in. The Base is a workshop space, doubling as a training room, conference area and recording studio.
The organisation places a heavy emphasis on creative projects reaching a diverse range of the local community, with a strong focus on children, young people and families.
Funding from the Foundation will support preparations for GROW Festival 2019, an outdoor arts festival which, this year, takes the theme of food.
Speaking of the support of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, The Core at Corby Cube Director Joseph Flavin, said: “Everyone at the Core is delighted to hear that we have been allocated funding. We are committed to ensuring that the voices and perspectives of young people in Corby and the surrounding areas are heard and that young people are given a chance to take an active part in shaping their own futures. The funding from the #iwill Fund kick starts a vital process of engagement for young people in the area with the creative participation projects at the Core. This will ultimately give young people the platform to tell us what they want to see on our stages as we put the power in their hands.”
