West Haddon Pétanque Club has been awarded £4,434 from Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the Winwick Wind Farm Fund.
West Haddon Pétanque Club brings members of the local community in West Haddon and surrounding villages together by providing facilities to play the sport.
A game similar to boules, pétanque is easy to understand and inexpensive to play. The group attracts players of all ages as well as those with disabilities.
Funding from the Foundation will help to upgrade facilities, including a seated spectator area and improved wheelchair access.
Philip George, Club Maintenance Officer, said: “In the past three months we have increased our membership by nearly 65 percent with more people intending to join next season. We now have members from other villages too. Pétanque is a very sociable activity and we offer a friendly welcome to all comers whatever their ability.”
