Collyweston Historical and Preservation Society has been awarded £4,597.87 from Northamptonshire Community Foundation through the Compton Fund.
Collyweston Historical and Preservation Society aims to educate the local and wider community on the rich history of Collyweston. Located in East Northamptonshire, the village has been home to Neolithic Settlements, Roman Temples and Royal Palace’s, with the society conducting a varied range of exciting research projects for almost 30 years.
Funding from the Foundation will support the group’s latest research project – an investigation into Lady Margaret Beaufort’s Royal Palace.
Speaking of the project, researcher at Collyweston Historical and Preservation Society Sandra Johnson said: “Our aim is to protect the site and story of Collyweston’s Royal Palace for future generations. The project is designed to encourage all sectors of the community to be involved, regardless of age, ability or other difficulties. We encourage all individuals and local groups to join our project, which will encourage social interaction across all age groups.”
