Our Surviving Winter appeal aims to save lives and help isolated and vulnerable elderly people and families stay warm and well during the winter months. Every penny raised through Surviving Winter is passed on to vulnerable, elderly people living in our county.
The winter can be one of the hardest seasons to get through for the most vulnerable in our community due to social isolation and the cold. Our annual Surviving Winter campaign has been important to so many - there is a significant need in our community and it is vital that we help address the issues and fears affecting vulnerable and older people.
Our recent Hidden Needs research reports that the highest area of population growth in our county is people aged 65 & over, accounting for 17.3% of the population. With many of these people living alone, and with concerns over social isolation and the cold over the winter month, our Appeal is vital.
Each winter, one older person dies every seven minutes from the cold. With your donations we aim to work to reduce the number of older vulnerable people in Northamptonshire who die from the cold and poor living conditions to 0. No one should be left struggling, it is clear that we need decisive action to tackle this problem head on.
Therefore from 27th November (#givingtuesday) to 4th December 2018 we are calling on everyone to support this vital appeal to ensure we can help even more of the most vulnerable in our communities and remind them that they are not forgotten.
This year, for every donation made online from 12 noon on #GivingTuesday 27th November and until 12 noon on 4th December we’ll be able to double it!
Therefore please think about giving your winter fuel allowance or a donation to our Surviving Winter appeal to ensure those who are less fortunate can stay warm and healthy this winter. Every penny raised will be passed to those in greatest need.
