Recent Projects we have Funded

Thousands of people in the county have already benefited from grants awarded by the Northamptonshire Community Foundation – and this looks set to continue for decades to come.

To ensure all areas of the county are given equal access to the funding, the Foundation distributes grants with four main themes in mind:

Community and Family Life, Culture and Creativity,

Healthy Living and the Environment, Sports and Recreation

Community and Family Life

Solve It, a solvent abuse project, received a Local Network Fund Grant of £5,532 – to hold seminars across the county to raise awareness of the causes, signs and symptoms of solvent abuse.

Daventry & District Crossroads Care Scheme was awarded a £7,000 Local Network Fund Grant – to set up a Young Carers Club, which gives young carers somewhere to relax and have a break from caring duties, so they can meet other young people in the same situation.

Raunds Child Centre received a Local Network Fund Grant of £7,000 – to pay for an outdoor play area with safety surfacing and equipment.

Towcester Young Mums' Group received a Local Network Fund Grant of just over £6,570 – to help this group make a DVD on positive parenting skills to educate other parents.

Community group, the Hope Project (see left) , was awarded a Local Network Fund Grant of £7,000 - to fund a summer holiday programme of structured activities for young people on the Hemmingwell Estate.

CASPAR Youth Project was awarded a Local Network Fund Grant of just over £2,555 – to set up a holiday club. The children in the deprived area of Wellingborough are unable to access summer activities such as trips to the countryside and sports.

 

 

Healthy Living and the Environment

Sen-Care, a support group for parents, was awarded a Community Champions Grant of £2,000 - to allow volunteer parents to undertake a course on supporting young people on the autistic spectrum.

 

The Opal Project, run by a group of young people, was given a £500 Northamptonshire High Sheriff’s Initiative Grant – to improve and print 1,000 journals for a waiting list of young people who self-harm.

Corby Wheels Project received a Local Network Fund Grant of £7,000 – so they could employ a young adult support worker to create training opportunities and motivate the young people using the ramp-park.

Route 97 was granted a Local Network Fund Grant of £5,457 – to fund weekly group sessions for 16 to 19-year-olds vulnerable to mental health issues.

Time 2 Talk, a rural outreach programme, received a Connexions Grant of £2,808 – to pay for six extra staff hours each week. This has enabled the young people’s rural outreach support programme to be extended to small isolated villages.

 

 

Sports and Recreation

The Knowing Me Knowing You project was awarded a £1,690 Community Champions Grant – to fund personal development workshops for women. These focused on physical well-being, emotions, negative thinking, communication skills, relationships and assertiveness.

Hartwell Events Committee received a £1,000 Community Champions Grant – to organise local events and engage residents of all age groups in different activities.

Daventry Women’s Rugby was given a Community Champions Grant of £1,800 – to develop rugby teams for young women in the area.

Oundle Rugby Club got a Community Champions Grant of £293.75 – to pay for First Aid training for 12 coaches.

Northamptonshire Golf received £7,000 from the Local Network Fund - to provide four introductory courses for 10 to 11-year-olds who would not otherwise have been able to enjoy this - either due to rural isolation or economic disadvantage.

 

Culture and Creativity

Northampton Black Arts and Culture Forum received a Local Network Fund Grant of £6,677 - to organise a show as part of the Black History Month, with young people involved in performing, catering and its general organisation.

Age Concern Entertainers, a group of older dancers, were awarded a Community Champions Grant of £2,000 – to promote healthy living to other older people through putting on a short play.

The Sikh Community Centre and Youth Club received a Local Network Fund Grant of £7,000 – to buy instruments and pay teachers, for after-school music classes for young people.

Corby Community Arts received a Local Network Fund Grant of £6,615 – enabling young people to take part in photography workshops, to produce a diary of Corby and an exhibition of their work.

The Comedy Shop was awarded a Local Network Fund Grant: of £6,192 – to enable members to develop their writing skills through comedy workshops.

Synergy Forum Northampton was awarded a Community Champions Grant of £2,000 – to support its work with African communities. It provides information, advice, support and advocacy on issues of concern relating to education, health, training and welfare.
