Northamptonshire Community Foundation Awarded National Lottery Funding to Support Historical Giving
Northamptonshire Community Foundation has received a National Lottery grant of £8,800 to present a Generosity Heritage Trail.
The money has been awarded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and will celebrate historical philanthropy and the spirit of giving in Northampton.
Working in partnership with Looking Glass Theatre, the interactive, theatrical guided tour will transport audiences back in time to discover some of the town’s historical, philanthropic figures brought to life by local actors. Along the way, audiences will be able to visit historic landmarks whilst also taking a ride on a heritage bus.
The Trail will run across four days, starting on Thursday 25 July and finishing on Sunday 28. All performances will start on the steps of the Guildhall in Northampton Town Centre, commencing at 11:00 AM, with guests being asked to arrive by 10.50 AM.
Tickets are priced from £5.00 and are available from https://thelittleboxoffice.com/ncf/
Rachel McGrath, Grants Director and Deputy CEO of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Looking Glass Theatre to bring to life some of the many generous characters that light up the history of Northampton and celebrate local philanthropy past and present. Next year, the Generosity Trail will also be one of the many events as part of the 2020 Northamptonshire Surprise Arts Campaign. We hope people with a curiosity and passion for local history will come along and find out more.”
