A Giving Circle That Creates a Way to Make a Difference Locally
Northamptonshire Community Foundation (NCF) is delighted to announce a week-long social media campaign to promote the innovative Friends of the Foundation Fund.
Running from 4 to 11 February, the campaign will promote the generosity of our members and celebrate the positive impact grant giving through the fund has on local community groups.
The Friends of the Foundation Fund is a giving circle that creates a way for individuals and businesses to make a difference locally.
With the support of staff at NCF, Friends are advised on the priority needs within the county, allowing them to target the fund to groups working within a chosen theme. Friends then decide which groups to support at an annual dedicated grants panel, with all of their donations pooled together to create a large funding pot.
This year, the priority need was child poverty. The Friends of the Foundation awarded grants of £4,946.77 to Camrose Toy Library and £5,000 to Shudan Community Interest Company (CIC).
Emma Smith, Chair of Camrose Toy Library, said: “With cuts to funding, children's activities in the Spencer/Dallington area have been reduced. Our successful bid to the Friends of the Foundation grant will enable the Camrose Community Toy Library to deliver a much needed stay and play session encompassing a healthy cooked meal, while also providing access to special education needs, communication and marketing resources to ensure the toy library can continue to grow.”
Throughout the year, Friends are invited to see the difference their donations have made by attending a number of project visits and joining in the celebrations at Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Annual Awards ceremony.
Anyone who makes a donation or sets up a standing order with NCF has the opportunity to become a Friend. With three levels of giving, there are options to suit everyone. From as little as £10 per month you can become a Friend of the Foundation. Half of your donation is used immediately to support local need, with the remainder being invested into the Friends of the Foundation endowment fund, enabling us to deliver grants long into the future.
Current Friend of the Foundation, Kevin Marchand, said: “It is such a good feeling to assist those who support others with their time and enthusiasm. We just think of the miles of smiles we fund.”
