The Foundation convened a meeting with several organisations working directly around the issue of food poverty.
The outcome of the meeting was a commitment to pilot testing a co-ordinated response to addressing food poverty and improving infrastructure in addressing what is an increasing concern. The Foundation was also able to match a donor to invest in the pilot phase.
Since 2012 Northamptonshire Food Poverty Network has come together to tackle food insecurity across the county. It currently focuses on campaigning and raising public awareness in partnership with the national #End Hunger UK campaign. You can find out more here.
Online Food Aid Directory
Northamptonshire Food Poverty Network has an online Food Aid Directory covering Food Banks and free or low cost food venues across the county. The Directory is not exhaustive but is a good starting point for referring individuals or families to food aid support. It also indicates food banks that are able to share food surplus with other agencies when available.
