Johnson Diversey launch Grassroots Community Fund

Northampton based Johnson Diversey launched a new Fund with the Foundation this week – following the company’s first community day.

A group of more than 250 staff volunteered for the day’s events and split into three teams yesterday. One group visited Northampton’s Wilson’s Orchard in Abington to prune trees, regenerate wildlife habitats and create a new nature trail. A second travelled to Rushden to renovate and redecorate the local office of mental health charity MIND.

The third group was sponsored to cycle round Pitsford Reservoir and, together with a generous donation from the company, raised £15,000.

Thanks to our ongoing match challenge the Foundation was then able to match this £1 for £1 and boost the newly launched JohnsonDiversey Grassroots Community to an impressive £30,000.

David Aveyard, event co-ordinator and European Sales and Marketing Director for Agriculture at JohnsonDiversey said: “As responsible corporate citizens, JohnsonDiversey takes its commitment to the environment and local communities very seriously. This fund is our legacy to the local community and will help those groups that really need our support to exist and thrive. We are committed to building the fund and look forward to awarding grants once we reach the £50,000 mark.”

The Foundation’s patron, the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Lady Juliet Townsend, joined Fund Development Manager Jessica Pilkington to launch the fund.

Jessica said: “By choosing to set up their own community fund Johnson Diversey are pledging a commitment to make a real difference to the communities of Northamptonshire – now and for generations to come. A huge thank you and congratulations to all those involved.”
