The Foundation, which supports a wide range of grassroots projects, groups and people in the county made awards in October to 17 groups which include a community choir, a gymnastics group, and a charity that provides volunteering opportunities for adults and young people who have a variety of disabilities, or health issues.
Amongst those who received an award were:
Care & Repair (Northampton) a group that provides services to help support vulnerable people to remain independent in their own homes. The grant will be used to purchase and distribute Keep Warm packs throughout Northamptonshire. These packs will help the most vulnerable in the community, the elderly and those with long term health conditions and will include items such as a blanket, hat and gloves, a flask and a hot water bottle.
Northampton Gymnastics Academy received a grant to help purchase a new carbon fibre rodded tumble track replacing the current track that is over 20 years old. The club which currently has 19 different classes welcomes members of any age or ability and the new track will benefit all members of the club.
Yelvertoft Ladies Choir a small choir of local ladies who enjoy singing received a grant to support 40 future sessions, purchasing new music, paying towards the hire of room and paying an accompanist.
Community Foundation Chief Executive, Victoria Miles, said: “We’re delighted to support these local groups all of whom are doing exceptional work and improving their local communities. With the generous support from individuals, businesses and local government, we are able to make a real difference within our county.”
