Care and Repair Northampton were recently awarded a Surviving Winter grant for their project to add capacity and resilience for ongoing activities to support the elderly and vulnerable within Northampton during the winter period.
The fund covered the cost of the provision of Keep Warm Packs, provided to individuals most in need to help keep them warm and safe in their own homes. The contents of the packs are prioritised depending on the needs of the client but typically include a blanket, hot water bottle, thermos flask, soup, hat and gloves, draught excluder, a room thermomenter and haolgen heater.
The project works alongside other energy efficiency work undertaken by the group through which they carry out home energy saving measures such as draught exclusion, repairs, secondary glazing and provision of low cost panel heaters.
