Named Funds

For many individuals, familes and organisations named, themed and geographical funds are an ideal way to support the local causes closest to their hearts.  These funds, which often bear a family or business name, are invested by the Foundation so that the interest accrued can be awarded to local community groups in the form of grants.

One of the Foundation's newest fund is the WNDC Stronger Communities Fund, a £750,000 West Northamtponshire Development Corporation Fund which has been launched to help not-for-profit, volutary and community groups operating in and around the three growth areas of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester

Another named fund is Northamptonshire Champions – a pot of money designed to support talented local athletes in the run up to the 2012 Olympics, with generous donations already made by Northamptonshire Sport and Ability Northants.

The High Sheriff Initiative Fund, which the Foundation has been managing for five years, continues to make a huge difference to communities throughout the county, with its quarterly grants designed to help build safer communities.

For many of our donors the launch of the Grassroots Grants endowment match challenge means there has never been a better time to give. Cave & Sons, a local and established stockbrokers in Northampton, recently set up its Cave & Sons/Grassroots Grants fund, which is designed to benefit grassroots community groups across the whole of the county.

Thanks to the Treasury’s match funding the company’s initial donation has been matched £1 for £1 – and its partners have pledged to significantly build on the value of the fund over the next few years. Grants will start to be made once it reaches the £50,000 mark.

An anonymous donor from the North of the county has also made the most of the Treasury’s matched funding. His family’s £100,000 donation has been matched £1 for £1, and their £200,000 fund will focus on educational achievement for children and young people in need across the whole of the county.
